Welcoming Blanca Qin
as Our New Head
of Casualty

As Re scales, we’re building the underwriting bench to match. Today, we’re introducing our new Head of Casualty.

Blanca Qin, Head of Casualty at Re

Introducing Blanca Qin.

We’re thrilled to welcome Blanca Qin to Re as our Head of Casualty. Blanca joins from RenaissanceRe, where she structured and priced casualty reinsurance treaties across a range of cedants and programs. Before that, she spent four years at Swiss Re in regional, specialty, and casualty underwriting, and more than a decade at Guy Carpenter, where she rose to Senior Vice President in the actuarial practice, advising cedants on treaty structure, pricing, and portfolio analytics.

That range of experience — across broker and reinsurer — is exactly what we were looking for. Blanca is also a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), bringing a level of technical rigor that matches the discipline we apply to every program supported by the protocol.

Leading the casualty book.

In her role at Re, Blanca will lead the casualty underwriting function supporting Cover Re SPC’s reinsurance activity, responsible for portfolio construction and treaty structuring, with a focus on expanding our engagement with U.S. MGAs, program administrators, and carriers seeking collateralized quota share capacity across casualty lines. She will be based in New York and report directly to our CEO.

“Casualty underwriting punishes guesswork. Blanca has spent her career building the kind of judgment — both across the broker desk and across the reinsurer — that you can’t shortcut. Her actuarial rigor makes her the right person to lead this book as we grow.”

Karn Saroya, CEO

Casualty is one of Re’s core strategic priorities as we grow beyond our existing MGA treaty book. Supporting approximately $358 million in premium across 40+ cedants, having dedicated casualty leadership isn’t optional — it’s the next necessary step.

What’s next.

Casualty reinsurance is one of the largest and most complex corners of the insurance market, and one where disciplined underwriting and actuarial rigor are essential. Bringing Blanca on board is a deliberate signal about where Re is headed.

  • Actively expanding the casualty book supported by protocol capital
  • Deepening relationships with U.S. MGAs and program administrators
  • Building out the collateralized quota share capacity the market increasingly demands

Blanca’s hire gives us the underwriting leadership to do that with the same discipline and precision that has defined our property and workers’ comp programs.

Part of a broader pattern.

This is also part of a broader pattern. Over the past year, onchain deposits have crossed $200 million, and we’ve added senior legal, underwriting, and operational leadership to match that scale. Every hire we make is a deliberate investment in building Re the right way — with the people, processes, and expertise that our cedants, partners, and capital providers can rely on.

Blanca’s appointment is one part of that story. There’s more to come. If you’re interested in what we’re building at Re, we’d love to talk.
